Fundraising update

I am very sorry about the late update for our fundraising project, but now evreything is decided, and the money sent away. All together the three of us raised about 10 000 NOK, which is amazing - thank you so much again!
In India this is really a lot of money, so I wanted to be sure that everything was set before giving away the money. As I told you earlier, we wanted to both buy the children something (less lasting) and more fun, in addition to something more lasting. In the end, after lots of discussing and bargaining with buyers, we ended up with this:

* Chocolate bars and ice cream for all of the children and staff
* Sandals for all of the 180 children (my bedroom smelled like rubber for weeks after keeping all of them there!)
* Underwear for the ones up to 9th grade
* 1 set of uniforms to all of the 180 children.

The last one is the one that costs the most, but it is nice to be able to contribute to something like uniforms too, which they use every day and that needs to be replaced after a certain amount of time :) This part will be done after I have left, but the rest we fixed while being at the children's home.
Both the ice cream and the chocolates were a huge success, but the sandals were even more exciting!
Handing out sandals to 180 children was a challenge for us (and my patience), since few actually had the size they had told us, or they wanted a different color etc.. But it was fun to see how much they appreciated it, and it was worth all the fuzz in the end :)

So thank you all for the help, it is really appreciated a lot at the Children's Home! :)

Half of the sandals!
More sandals and underwear
